Brazilian Legal Framework for Artificial Intelligence: Contributions to the Federal Senate’s Jurists Committee

The published document compiles the contributions of the Institute for Research on Internet and Society to the Federal Senate’s Jurists Committee on Artificial Intelligence in Brazil. The text refers to the process of submission of written statements in the context of the appreciation by the Brazilian Legislature of Draft Bill 21/2020. For this, we seek to observe the principles and objectives, transparency and explainability, definitions, jurisdictional scope, civil liability, human supervision and review, risk management and inspection mechanisms and regulatory arrangements on artificial intelligence. The purpose of the publication is to contribute to the public debate and multisectoral and collaborative construction that guide the subject in Brazil.
