The World Intellectual Property Organization published this monday, Augut 15, the Global Innovation Index 2016 – “Winning with Global Innovation”. The report ranks the innovation performance of 128 countries, based on 82 indicators and focus on the impact of innovation-oriented policies on economic growth and development.
The report presents remarks regarding the global innovation scenario, such as the need for innovative processes in settings of low economic growth, the importance of public policies that stimulate innovation at a Municipal level, as well as incentives from the private sector. These indications help formulating public policies throughout the world, for better understanding of national innovation contexts and of international standards. The goal is to foster long-term economic growth.

As far as innovation performance is concerned, Switzerland holds first place in the 2016 rank, followed by Sweden, United Kingdom and the United States. Brazil, however, holds the 69th place. The Global Innovation Index can be accessed at the World Intellectual Property Organization’s website.
