The proposals approved by the Scientific Committee will, according to thematic affinity, be distributed in Working Groups for presentation at the III Internet Governance Seminar, at the discretion of the organizing committee.
Submission of papers for the III Internet Governance Seminar will be organized into the following stages:
The Proposal’s Submission
The Proposal must be sent through the form available on this link, until July 29, 2018. The result of the selection will be announced on the IRIS website and through its social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) until 05 August 2018. Only participants with approved proposals will have the opportunity to present their expanded abstracts in the seminar Working Groups. Co-authoring works of up to a maximum of three people will be accepted.
The Expanded Abstracts’ Submission
Authors of selected proposals should send the Expanded Abstract in .doc or .docx formats, according to the template available in the announcement of accepted proposals, to the email publicacoes@irisbh.com.br until September 16, 2018. The Expanded Abstracts must be strictly in accordance with the formatting of the indicated template, and with the grammatical rules and linguistic uses of the selected language. The authors will be notified by email following the receivement of the digital file. If the Expanded Abstract is co-authored, all persons indicated will be notified. The selected Expanded Abstracts will be published in the Annals of the III Internet Governance Seminar: Policies, Internet and Society, with publication date to be established in a timely manner and at the discretion of the organizing committee.
Presentation at the Seminar
Expanded Abstracts will be presented at sessions scheduled at the III Internet Governance Seminar, on September 24 and 25, 2018, by at least one of the authors. Only exhibitors attending the sessions in person will receive the presentation certificate. After the Working Groups have been held, authors will have the opportunity to further develop their research and present a final version of their Complete Paper, in an article format, for publication in a collective book (as individual chapters).
To submit a Complete Paper, it is mandatory that at least one of the authors participate in the oral presentation of the Expanded Abstract in the III Internet Governance Seminar. In cases of co-authorship, the oral presentation of the Expanded Abstract and consequent certification enables the submission of Full Paper, containing the names of all authors who submitted the Presentation Proposal initially.
The Commission believes that the period of time between submitting the paper and submitting the full version of the paper is essential for participants to deepen the proposed analyzes, establish the appropriate methodology and incorporate comments and suggestions received during the discussions held at the event.
Complete Paper Submission
Complete Papers must follow the same formatting guidelines of the Expanded Abstract, contain between 15 and 20 pages, be in .doc or .docx formats, and be sent to the email publicacoes@irisbh.com.br. The deadline for final submission is January 13, 2019. Full papers that do not strictly conform to the formatting of the template indicated, and grammatical rules and linguistic uses of the selected language will not be accepted. After submission, there will be notification informing the receipt of the digital file. If the Complete Paper is submitted in co-authoring, all authors will receive notifications. Complete Papers will be published later as a book chapter, in a book to be edited and published in open access format by the Institute for Research on Internet and Society (IRIS), in partnership with other entities.
In submitting the Proposal, the Expanded Summary and the Complete Paper, the authors state, under the penalties of the law, that the text is unpublished and that it is not pending publication in any editorial, printed or electronic vehicle, and, in the case of selection for publication, transfer, exclusively and free of charge, all the monetary rights of authorship of said text to the organization of the III Networks Governance Seminar, for the entire period of validity of the patrimonial rights of authorship, foreseen by the Brazilian copyright law, being adjusted that the publication will be in an open format, available in electronic platforms and social media, at the discretion of the organizing committee.
The organizing committee of the event will have full powers to deal with situations that are missing from this call for papers.
